Where Dubai's Pet Services Actually Are: A Count by Area (2026)
Al Barsha has nineteen vet clinics. JVC has none. A count of vets, groomers, pet shops, boarding and dog-friendly places across Dubai's main communities.
Published 1 October 2026
The pattern in one line
Dubai's pet services are not spread evenly, and they are not spread the way the population is. Two communities hold more of them than any other, and they hold different kinds.
Al Barsha has 52 listed pet businesses, of which 19 are veterinary clinics. It is the medical centre of the city for animals.
Al Quoz also has 52, but only 4 are clinics and 23 are boarding, daycare or sitting. It is where dogs go when their owners travel, because it is where the warehouses are.
Everywhere else is smaller and more specialised than people assume.

What stands out
JVC has no veterinary clinic at all, despite being one of the most pet heavy communities in the city by reputation. Its residents drive to Al Barsha or Motor City.
Dubai Marina has one clinic for a population that size, but eight dog-friendly cafes and restaurants. It is a place to walk a dog, not a place to treat one.
Al Wasl has twelve clinics and no boarding at all. Al Quoz is the mirror image, with twenty three boarding and daycare businesses and four clinics.
Deira and Karama hold the older cluster: clinics and shops, almost no dog-friendly venues, which tracks with how those districts are used.
Grooming is the most evenly spread service in the city, and Al Warsan is the outlier with thirteen.
If you are choosing where to live
Check three things for the community you are considering, in this order.
A vet within a sensible drive. Not in the community necessarily, but close enough that a sick animal at 9pm is a short journey.
Boarding, if you travel. Boarding clusters in industrial areas, so wherever you live, your dog's holiday is probably in Al Quoz, Al Warsan or Al Qusais.
Somewhere to walk. Dog-friendly venues concentrate in Marina, Jumeirah, JVC and Downtown, and barely exist in the older districts.
The one most people get wrong is the first. Rent is chosen on commute and school, and the nearest clinic is discovered during an emergency.
If you are opening a pet business
The gaps in the table are the point of it.
JVC has eleven pet businesses and no clinic. Dubai Marina has one clinic for a dense, dog-heavy population. Al Wasl has twelve clinics competing with each other and no boarding at all.
Boarding is the most concentrated category in the city, which cuts both ways: the demand is proven and the competition is in one place.
Dog-friendly cafes remain rare outside four communities, and the ones that exist are busy. That is a venue decision more than a pet business decision, but it is the fastest growing part of our directory.
Method
Source: the OnePass Pet directory as of 1 October 2026, built from public Google Business Profile data, covering 780 active businesses across the UAE. This page counts the Dubai communities with at least eleven listed businesses.
Areas come from each business's registered address, so a mobile groomer that covers the whole city is counted where it is based. Businesses that fit two categories, a clinic with a grooming salon for instance, are counted once under their primary category.
A count of listed businesses is not a count of every business. Anything without a Google presence is invisible to this method, and small home-run services are the most likely to be missing.
If you are quoting these numbers, please include the date. We add businesses weekly.
