Where Dubai Runs Out of Emergency Vets: 24-Hour Coverage by Area (2026)

Only 26 of the 214 veterinary clinics we list across the UAE say they are open 24 hours. Here is which areas are covered, which are not, and how far the nearest night clinic is from each.

The short version

We list 214 active veterinary clinics across the UAE. Twenty six of them state that they are open 24 hours, which is about one in eight.

Those 26 sit in 18 of the 64 areas we have clinics in. The other 46 areas have no night cover of their own, and rely on a clinic somewhere else.

For most of central Dubai that is a short drive. For a few communities it is not, and that is worth knowing before three in the morning rather than during it.

How far is the nearest 24-hour clinic?

Average straight line distance from a clinic in each area to the nearest clinic that states 24 hour opening. Straight line, not driving distance, so the real journey is longer.

Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi: 19.9 km, no 24 hour clinic in the area JLT: 6.9 km, none in the area Mirdif: 6.2 km, none in the area Al Safa: 6.1 km, none in the area Jumeirah: 4.6 km, none in the area Bur Dubai: 4.2 km, none in the area Al Warsan: 4.2 km, none in the area Arabian Ranches: 4.0 km, one in the area Al Barsha: 2.6 km, two in the area Al Wasl: 2.3 km, one in the area Deira: 2.2 km, one in the area Al Quoz: 1.8 km, one in the area

Karama and Umm Suqeim each have two clinics stating 24 hour cover, which makes the Karama and Al Wasl corridor the best served part of the city at night.

What this means if you live there

If you are in JLT, Mirdif, Al Safa or Jumeirah, your nearest night clinic is in another community. At 3am that is a 10 to 20 minute drive, which is survivable, but only if you already know where you are going.

If you are in Khalifa City or further out in Abu Dhabi, the gap is real. Twenty kilometres with a bleeding or seizing animal is a different situation, and the answer is to have the number saved and to call while someone else drives.

The practical step is the same everywhere: pick your clinic now, save the number in your phone under a name you will find while panicking, and check once a year that they still run nights. Opening hours change quietly.

Why so few clinics stay open

A night shift needs a vet, a nurse and a receptionist for hours that may bring in nobody. Most independent clinics in the UAE cannot carry that cost, so night cover concentrates in the larger hospitals and in a handful of clinics that have made it their position.

That is also why the areas with no night clinic are mostly residential communities built in the last fifteen years, where the clinics are small and newer. It is not a quality problem. It is an economics one.

For a clinic owner reading this, the gaps above are the map of where a night service has no local competitor.

Method, so you can check it

Source: the OnePass Pet directory, 214 active veterinary clinics across the UAE as of 1 October 2026, built from public Google Business Profile data.

A clinic counts as 24 hour if its published opening hours say so. That is a statement by the business, not something we have verified on site, and it is the main weakness of these numbers. Clinics also change hours without updating their profile.

Distances are straight line between clinic coordinates, to the nearest clinic stating 24 hour opening. Driving distance is longer, usually by a third or more in city traffic.

Areas with fewer than three clinics are left out of the table, because one clinic's position would swing the average.

If you are quoting this, please say the date. We will update it, and the numbers will move.

The clinics that state 24 hour opening are listed with their phone numbers at onepasspet.com/emergency-vet. Always call before you drive: a clinic that is open may still not have a vet free for an emergency.
